Towards the end of the 90’s, the Major Seminary developed a block that used to house a girls’ junior school into a retreat centre. It was inaugurated by Malta’s Auxiliary Bishop Msgr Annetto Depasquale on the 21st October 1999.

Situated in the precincts of the Major Seminary, the Centre is on high grounds and offers a space for silence, prayer and rest.

The Christ the Shepherd Centre (Ċentru Kristu Ragħaj) is open for retreats, seminars and conferences and it could house up to 33 persons. Many priests religious, seminarians and lay people from Malta and abroad have used the centre as lodging either for their retreat, during their stay in Malta to master the English language or merely for their rest. The 33 single rooms have en suite facilities.

People making use of the Centre can do so either on a bed & breakfast, half or full board basis.
